ACID RESISTANT BRICKS & TILES

ACID RESISTANT BRICKS & TILES

MIPRO-VE (Novolac Epoxy Vinyl Ester Mortar) is specifically designed for use in the construction of floors, sumps, trenches, tanks, vessels, and bleach towers across a wide range of industries, including chemical processing, food and beverage, dairies, laboratories, textiles, steel, and pulp & paper mills. MIPRO-VE is renowned for its exceptional resistance to a variety of harsh chemicals, including oxidizing bleach solutions, mineral and organic acids, alkaline solutions, and certain organic solvents. When applied with chemical-resistant masonry units and the appropriate membrane, MIPRO-VE effectively protects concrete and steel substrates from both chemical attacks and physical wear. This silica-filled vinyl ester mortar is supplied in two parts for easy application.

Mixing:
Begin by pouring the correct proportion of the liquid component into a clean mixing vessel. Gradually add the measured amount of the powder component while continuously mixing with a trowel, by hand, or using a mechanical mixer until the mortar reaches a uniform, workable consistency. Once mixed, spread the mortar in a thin layer in a mortar pan to ensure maximum working time (approximately 25 minutes at 35°C). The recommended mix ratio by weight is:

  • Part A (Resin): 1 part by weight
  • Part B (Filler): 5.5 parts by weight

Important: Material that has begun to set cannot be re-tempered and must be discarded. Never add liquid or any other materials to mixed mortar or components.

After application, use a trowel to strike the extruded mortar off the face of the masonry unit. If the appearance of floors is a concern, it is recommended to use waxed face units. For these units, wait until the MIPRO-VE mortar has fully cured (24 hours at 35°C), and then clean the face of the masonry units using 60-psi (minimum) steam pressure at the nozzle.

Clean-Up:

All equipment should be cleaned with acetone or MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) before the MIPRO-VE mortar cures. If removal of the cured material is required, please consult with CHEMIPROTECT Engineers for appropriate recommendations.

To install MIPRO-VE, apply an average 1/8” thick bed joint of mortar directly onto the membrane or the preceding layer of brickwork. Butter the mortar onto the side and head joint of each masonry unit before setting them into place. Tap the units to position them and form an average 1/8” wide vertical joint, ensuring a secure and consistent bond between the units.
