MIPRO-K SPL

MIPRO-K SPL is a high-performance, inorganic, special-grade potassium silicate-based, two-part chemical-setting mortar. It is specifically designed to withstand permanent acidic conditions, making it ideal for applications where high temperatures and strong acids are present. This mortar excels in environments exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and chromic acid, offering superior durability compared to resin-based and sulfur-based mortars.

The mortar is applied to acid-resistant bricks or tiles using the standard bricklaying method, ensuring an even coating. It is essential that the bricks or tiles are clean, dry, and at ambient temperature before application. Once the mortar joints have hardened, they should be treated with a 10% hydrochloric acid solution prior to putting the acid-resistant lining into service. During and after the lining installation, it is crucial to keep the area dry and free from any materials or traffic that could interfere with the setting and curing process of MIPRO-K SPL.

Once fully set, MIPRO-K SPL demonstrates outstanding resistance to high concentrations of oxidizing acids, such as 98% sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, and chromic acid. It is also highly resistant to inorganic acids, salts, and most organic solvents at elevated temperatures. However, it is not suitable for use with hydrofluoric acid, fluoride salts, water, diluted solutions, or alkalis.

Storage & Shelf Life

For optimal performance, always store the solution and powder in a cool, dry location, away from direct sunlight and moisture. When stored in sealed containers under these conditions:

  • Solution: Shelf life is up to 12 months.
  • Powder: Shelf life is up to 12 months.

It is advisable to wear appropriate protective gear when using MIPRO-K SPL or any other MIPRO brand products. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical attention immediately.
